Leave all of your troubles behind as you sail to Hawaii. Cruise to Hawaii – welcome to paradise

As the destinations are a boat ride away from each other, a cruise is the ideal way to see all that the six unique islands of Hawaii has to offer.

The luxury surroundings of your ship coupled with the breathtaking natural beauty of Hawaii will leave you lost for words. What’s more, when you step foot on land, you’re offered a variety of wonderful activities - visit the volcanic craters and canyons by foot or air.

Most cruises will take you to all six islands of Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Lanai, Molokai and the big island of Hawaii – which has two main ports on opposite sides, Hilo and Kona.  The majority of the activities and excursions in Hawaii are motivated by the natural beauty of the islands.

Get involved with a local ritual inspired by Hawaiian folklore and climb to the summit of Haleakala on Maui to watch the sunrise. Go deep-sea fishing, or whale watching in the crisp blue ocean that is home to many amazing creatures. By far the most popular excursion, flying over the islands is awe-inspiring.

The magical flight gives spectacular views of the beautiful coastlines and volcanic craters that make up Hawaii’s dramatic landscape.

Don’t forget to take part in some traditional pursuits – go to a luau, learn to surf, or do the hula. Delicious food is a staple part of life in Hawaii.  Sample the freshest of fish, caught that morning. Locally grown fruit and vegetables are ripe and juicy, grown with the help of the fertile volcanic soil.  Even the cattle are locally reared.

Activities & excursions

The big island’s main attraction is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which is the home to one of the world’s most active volcanoes.  Hike or take a jeep around the park, being amazed by the magnitude of the craters and its bubbling lava. Walk through the lava cave into beautiful rainforest.  Other excitement comes in the form of historical sites, museums and art galleries, coffee plantations and fabulous beaches.

The island of Oahu is home to Pearl Harbor.

Visit the five historic sites which commemorate the events that took place here in World War II.  Another famous landmark on Oahu is the town of Waikiki in Honolulu. This vibrant resort is the perfect place to take up surfing.  If your cruise ship stays here for the night, you will be invited to witness some amazing local music and dance the night away at one of the lively nightclubs.

Kauai is the fourth largest and most northern of the islands, and is home to some incredible outdoor pursuits.  If you have a head for heights, soar above the lush green forest at up to 35mph on a zip-wire.  If you can’t get enough of being surrounded by water, Kayak along the Waialua River, or snorkel on Poipu Beach.

Molokai is only 38 miles long and 10 miles across, and is a picture of unspoilt beauty.  Here you can ride a mule around Kalaupapa National Park – terrifyingly sheer drops and magnificent views will make your heart beat faster.

Play on an award-winning golf course on Lanai.  Or alternatively, go for a jeep safari around the island – only 30 miles of the roads are paved! Dolphin spotting is also a favourite on this island.  It’s easy to understand how Maui was given its nickname – “The Magic Isle”.  Its blissful atmosphere and scenic beaches make it a wonderful place to explore or relax.  Haleakala is the highest peak from which you get majestic views – hike to the top and be above the clouds.

Culture

The people of Hawaii will replicate the warmth and hospitality you find on-board.  The locals are intensely proud of their home and heritage, and it is easy to see why.  Enjoy the strum of the ukulele, and be enchanted by the movement of hips as dancers do the hula – then learn the moves yourself. Feel the spirit of aloha – the love of the land – throughout all of the islands.  This spirit brings all of the locals together, forming a close-knit community that welcomes others and really knows how to enjoy life.

Weather

The tropical temperatures of Hawaii are divine.  Consistently hot and fanned by a sea breeze , it really is paradise.  There are only really two seasons – summer is from May to October and winter runs from November to April.  But bear in mind that the average winter temperature in 25degrees – not really winter at all!  It can be wet in the north-eastern coasts, but a tropical thunderstorm is a wonderful sight to behold.
